2004 Season - Week 9
Another Hall of Famer
Last week it was Wayne and Phil who re-entered the hallowed and fabled hall. A week later and Dave G returns to the Hall 5 years after his inauguration. Dave G put up 53 points this week and showed the importance of trading day. His two changes scored 5 TD’s (Tiki Barber twice and Antonio Gates thrice).
Week 8’s Scoring Bonanza
Congratulations to everyone for last weeks excellent performance. As well as the aforementioned Wayne and Phil who scored 62 and 53 points respectively, Dave G put up 45 points and Aaron, Daz, John and Ron also put up over 30 points. Infact the worst score of the week was a none too shabby 18 scored by Gareth, Mark and Paul. As a collective we totalled 508 points just 8 shy of the all-time record set in week 1 of 2002. Our average of 31.25 points per owner was the third highest ever, also behind the 1997 week 4 average of 32 put up when the 11 owners totalled 352 points.
Marvellous Marshall
Lost in the St Louis Rams home loss to the New England was a major landmark for Marshall Faulk who passed Barry Sanders move into fourth place on the total yardage from scrimmage rankings. Since 1994 Marshall has ammassed 18,256 yards but is some way short of third placed Emmitt Smith (21,169 yards), second overall Walter Peyton (21,264), while the leader is recent Seahawk signing Jerry Rice who has 23,199 yards or over 13 miles of rushing and receiving!!
Just Staying Afloat
A few owners went deep into the weekend before escaping the Hall of Shame but perhaps none more so than Paul. Last years runner-up has now seen 2 of his receivers (Steve Smith and Terry Glenn) placed on IR and has kicker Olindo Mare miss the last four Dolphins games. With both his Franchise players (QB Steve McNare and RB Ahman Green) on bye weeks he was down to just 3 players before he started. Receiver Eric Moulds was held scoreless but RB Kevin Barlow scored for San Francisco to move Paul out of the Hall. He could double his weeks score if Minnesota beat Indi (he has Vikings coach Mike Tice). Any way you look at it Trading Day 2 at 3pm Sunday November 21st can’t come soon enough for Paul.
Sunday and Monday Night Football.
It’s back to BUMS HQ tonight from 6:30pm to see last nights Cleveland Baltimore AFC North clash and tomorrow we are at Johnny’s from 6:30pm to watch what promises to be a good old fashioned barn-burner as the Colts entertain the Vikings.
